This is a small zoo with vaste enclosures was founded back in 1928 when the wisent more or less was extinct from the wild and only exsisted in a few zoos, to day you especially meet Central European animals

After we paid the entrance fee we turn left and see the enclosure for lynx and other native predators such as foxes and badgers, but also the Wolverine. Native to Germany today are also the raccoon (from North America) and the raccoon dog (from Asia). Then we will see the brown bear sharing its enclosure with wolves, and next the donkey as well as the Przewalski's horse. Across theire enclosures we see  the wild boar and otters. At the owls aviaries we turn to the left and see enclosures for the coypu (originally from South America) that now makes great damage, especially in France, and the roe. Continue along this road we see a pond location for cormorants, cranes and whooper swans. After the duel-place we could go right to the moos or see in front of us the beaver, left is a road to another large paddock for Przewalski's horses, their neighbors is the wisent, further down the way we get to the mouflon. Back to the intersection and then left we get to the falconery. Then comes the Sika, the capercaillie and several local owls, as well as the common raven. Let us now turn left and then we already see a duck pond that leads us to the exit.


DE: Das Wisentgehege liegt im 2.500 ha großen Naturschutzgebiet ´Saupark´. Dessen Kernteil - der historische Mauerpark - ist 1.200 ha groß und von einer 16 km langen Mauer umgeben, die zwischen 1836 und 1839 errichtet wurde. Das Gehege wurde 1928 als Zuchtstätte für den damals akut vom Aussterben bedrohten Wisent gegründet und hat sich nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg zu einem Wildpark entwickelt, der die Tiere Mitteleuropas zeigt, die einst hier lebten oder heute noch leben. Dieser bietet ein zuhause für 100 Arten auf einem 100 Hektar grossen Gelände. Das Wappentier ist natürlich der Wisent, Europas größtes Wildrind. Durch gezielte Zucht leben heute wieder über 4000 Tiere in Gehegen und Zoos. Weit über 250 Tiere sind in Springe schon geboren worden.Das kleine Aquarium/Terrarium brannte leider vor einigen Jahren völlig ab und wurde nicht wieder erbaut. Als Ersatz ist ein ´Aquatop´ geplant, ebenso ein Mittelalter-Dorf für alte Haustierrassen. Auf dem Gelände siedelte sich ein kleiner Greifvogelhof an, der neben einfachen Volieren und Greifensitzen an den meisten Tagen Flugvorführungen bietet.

DK: Området har været jagtgrund for kongehuset Hanover, så de prøjsiske kejsere, de tyske presidenter og til sidst de nedersaksiske ministre. I dette område udstykkede man i 1928 et lille stykke til den tilnærmelsesvist udrydet Wisent og siden 1935 havde man et rentblodet par, som idag nærmest udgør stamfaderen for alle wisenter på verdensplan. Siden er haven blevet udvidet til 100 hektar og rummer især centaleuropæiske dyrearter.
